Hey, guys! I’m doing a scentsy giveaway on my main Instagram account (@miriamjzalapa https://www.instagram.com/p/BfwqJl7FEit/ ) so I thought I would give you all a little bit of info about the product!

Scentsy is not sponsoring me to do the giveaway, I actually do just really love the product!

I was introduced to Scentsy by my good friend, Abby Hasenkamp, who is a scentsy consultant! So thankful to Abby who helped me put this giveaway together!! She is the best friend & best consultant! She loves her products & puts her whole heart into selling Scentsy!

I’ve always longed to have candles in our house, but we’ve never burned them because of the uncleanliness of the soot & because of the safety issues! (With the flames 😉) Scentsy offers an amazing alternative with wickless wax and high quality warmers! All you do is plug in your electronic warmer, stick in the scent of your choice, and enjoy the nice smell!

If you’re thinking to yourself, that a nice smell couldn’t make that much of a difference, I can honestly tell you it does! Having your bedroom (or any other room) smell nice has such a relaxing effect on you. I have a beautiful scentsy warmer that I absolutely love & it is so high quality!

I’m so excited about this giveaway & so happy to be able to give one free warmer & scent bar to someone! If you’re interested in the giveaway go check out my Instagram page @miriamjzalapa https://www.instagram.com/p/BfwqJl7FEit/

3 Ways to Make Your Week Less Stressful

Hey, guys!

For today’s post, I’m sharing a few things I tried that drastically improved my week! These are all things that I did in order to improve my mental health/state. I didn’t try them with the intention of putting them into a post, but because they made such a big impact I decided to share them! Enjoy!

1) Getting to bed earlier

– Honestly, I’ve always considered myself to be a “night owl”, but while I still think that’s true, I’ve realized that it’s not an excuse to deprive myself of sleep. My body cannot function without getting enough sleep. This makes such a drastic difference for your mental state! Go to bed earlier and wake up earlier! It’s important!

2) Turning off social media notifications

– I had absolutely no idea how much this could affect me!!Seriously. I saved so much time & stress by doing this. I definitely encourage anyone who feels overwhelmed by social media to try this! (It doesn’t even have to be all your social media, for me it was just Instagram!)

3) Listening to audio books/ted talks in the mornings

– Reading has always been calming for me, but lately it’s been hard to find time to sit down and focus

– Listening to books is such a great alternative! There’s a ton of different apps for listening to books but Audible is the one I use. Here’s the link for audible: https://mobile.audible.com/?s_ref=%2F

– Ted talks are short motivational or educational talks about thousands of different topics. They’re all so interesting and most are only 5-10 min long! You can download the Ted Talk app & start listening whenever! Here’s the link to the website: https://www.ted.com/talks

– Listening to books/ted talks in the morning is great because you get to start your day with positivity & learning! It’s also great to listen to devotionals/Bible reading when you’ve missed your devotions!

Hope these tips give you a couple ideas of how to make your week a little less stressful!! xx, miriam

5 Lessons about Love from John 13

Happy Valentines’s Day! Today is a day set aside to appreciate our loved ones and that’s why it’s so special! I wanted to share some principles about love with you guys! Today’s blog is based on John 13 and shares some life changing truths about God’s love & the love we should have for others. Enjoy!

1.) Perfect love is eternal & consistent

In John 13:1 it says, “Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”

This verse shows us how Christ loves the world eternally & without fault. A love like this is powerful! This type of love doesn’t depend on the receiver or their actions; it is consistently shown.

2.) Love takes action

John 13 is all about Jesus getting ready to be crucified for our sins. Jesus didn’t have to die on the cross. He chose to willingly offer himself as a sacrifice because he loved us! This shows us that love isn’t merely a feeling, it is also characterized by actions.

3.) Nothing is “too good” for love

In verse 3 Jesus gets up and begins to wash the disciples feet. To help you better understand why this is so important, I’ve inserted a note from the ESV MacArthur Study Bible.

“The dusty and dirty conditions of the region necessitated the need for footwashing. Although the disciples would have likely been willing to wash Jesus’ feet, they would not consider washing each other’s feet. In their society, footwashing was a task assigned to the lowest-ranking household salves. It was not an action performed by a peer, except possibly as a rare expression of profound love.”

Okay, so here we see an awesome example of how humble Jesus’ Love was! His love was public and he was not ashamed of it.

4.) Our love should imitate Jesus’ love

In verse 34 we are told, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”

These examples of Jesus’ perfect love are in the Bible to instruct us and change us. We need to actually apply this to our lives!

5.) As Christians we are to be known by our love

John 13:35 says, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We are to follow Christ’s example of love & let it change us to the point that we’re known by it. This principle challenges me to love when I want to judge, to forgive when I want revenge, and to embrace people when I want to push them away.

This Valentine’s Day I hope you walk away encouraged by the overflowing love of Christ for us & the perfect example set for us! Thanks for reading!
